Rabbit Rabbit July

Have you ever heard of the Rabbit Rabbit Day superstition? This is the tale that says if you say "rabbit rabbit" when you wake up on the first day of a new month, the rest of the month will bring you good luck.

I heard this in High School. Mrs. Wallace, my English teacher and also a good friend of my Nana, taught us tons of superstitions. She also exposed her classes to many of the classis movies (Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, etc.) that kids our age usually haven't seen and don't want to.

I always think of Rabbit Rabbit Day on the first of the month. To my recollection, I've never been able to remember to say it first thing in the morning. Well, this morning, July 1, 2008, I woke up at 5:00 a.m. and was trying to fall back asleep when it hit me, and I said out loud "RABBIT RABBIT!"

Maybe I'll have good luck this month.

Maybe I believe that luck is something that falls into place with good planning and impeccable timing.

Either way, I'm super happy that this childish superstition found a way into my Tuesday morning.

At the beginning of EVERY month I remember rabbit-rabbit about half way through the day, and am so disappointed.

I saw something about it on Nickelodeon when I was like 10. I always wanted to say those words, but I never remember. Not even once in 13 or so years.

Congrats!
