How to unsubscribe without being called a whore...

If you read the post below, you know that I am transitioning jobs. In an effort to make life easier for whomever gets all my e-mails forwarded to their Inbox after I leave, I'm unsubscribing from all the eNewsletters that I've chosen to bombard myself with daily.

Most services and newsletters let you simply click on "unsubscribe" and then you're done. This is my favorite type. Some make you send them a blank e-mail or login to "change your preferences". This request bugs me.

Very rarely do I get the "Please confirm by typing the word in the box below." request to unsubscribe. But I understand why companies ask for this, and I have no problem doing so.

When unsubscribing, I love it when companies write "We're sad to see you go!" or "Sniff Sniff please don't leave us." It gives a more personal feel, and once or twice I've actually reconsidered. But I'm not sure what this particular company was trying to tell me with the "random" word they chose for me to type in...

Movin on up... to DC

The lack of thoughts and posts lately is because I've been quite busy.

First, boyfriend and I went to two Red Sox games at Camden Yard, so I was gone most of last week. Red Sox won, it was great. I had a hot dog and beer for dinner both nights. Check out our view -->

Then, I interviewed in for a position in DC and was offered the job. I decided to accept, making my life instantly more exciting and more nerve-racking. I'm in the process of 1) finishing up my time at my current place of employment, 2) searching for and, hopefully, finding a place to live near a metro, and 3) preparing to move to DC.

So... my plate is full, my cup runneth over, and my stomach has tons of butterflies (the good ones). I'll be back to my regular posting habits after life has settled a bit. Until then,
enjoy the baby animal video below!

My friend, Sarah, sent me this video through e-mail. It's too adorable not to share. Enjoy the little babies!

Tristan Prettyman or Bust

My favorite artist, Tristan Prettyman, is putting on a private concert in Chesapeake this Thursday at 11:30AM. When I messaged her on MySpace about the show she gave me tickets (how awesome is that?). I also won tickets through the radio station sponsoring the show, 94.9 The Point. So all-in-all I have six tickets and I CAN'T GO! I'm so incredibly bummed.

And to make matters worse, when the radio station asked how I heard about Tristan's show (trying to provoke a "through 94.9 the point" plug, I'm sure) I shouted "ON THE RADIO! YEAH!". So embarrassing.

Anywho, enjoy the video of Miss Prettyman's newest single, "Madly". And to whomever I get to go to the show in my place... enjoy.

Stand Up 4 Cancer

I stand up for many things: My mother, my uncles and my grandmother. But most importantly I stand up for Hope.

Monsters Among Us!

First there was The Montauk Monster, whose very image scared the bejeezies out of me.

Now there is The Georgia Bigfoot.

Neither one of these has been officially confirmed as a hoax, although not for lack of trying. The Montauk Monster was first featured on Gawker, and then picked up by reputable outlets such as New York Magazine and CNN.

Theories have been flying about both 'monsters'. I've heard reports saying the Montauk Monster is a dead pig, Satan's bacon, a dead raccoon, a shaved dog, a result of the nearby Plum Island animal testing facility, a turtle without its shell, even a wild pig/rat from South America. A film about carnies titled "Splinterheads" may answer the question “What is the Montauk Monster?” But if this is a viral marketing campaign it should only serve as an attention getter, then answer any questions and point those interested to the real product or news. This film won't be released until 2009 and I don't want to wait that long so I hope we get some other reports soon. Sheesh!

Right now, many are refuting The Georgia Bigfoot, saying it's just an old movie costume.
This guy even does the research. I guess we'll find out at Friday's press conference in San Francisco.

Another weird report: some Texas police officers captured video of a Chupacabra lookalike. I'm just going to let that one go though...

Life Without/ Social Network Poll Results

When I started my blog I put two polls on the right hand side. More people answered than I expected (32 votes in all), but the results were pretty standard. I hypothesized that people could give up radio for life, if given the choice. Mainly because many of us already give it up by using CD's (old school), iPods, XM & Sirius and HighDef.

I also wasn't surprised that Facebook was the most popular social network. Although, I'll fess up that I voted twice. When I voted from my PC I liked Facebook the most. When I bought my Mac it let me vote again so I chose Twitter. Now I'm not too sure. But my readers, mainly my friends and 20SB connections, enjoy Facebook the most. My main question: what is the "other" network? And Who voted for it?

Yearbook Yourself (or Your Cat)

A Twitter Buddy tipped me off to this site: YearbookYourself.com

It's hilarious. Just upload a photo and see what you would look like from 1950-2000. The site was put together by Taubman Centers, which makes sense since one of my Facebook friends just changed her profile photo to some 1950's awesomeness and she's on the Taubman team. It's a cool campaign, linking each year's popular style to a store in your nearest Taubman mall.

This is me in the 1960's and 1970's. Hot, right? Suprisingly enough, in my 1964 photo I look just like my mother.

And to make this post super creepy, I "Yearbooked" my cat, Tabby (don't you love her earrings?)...

Wednesday Updates: Big Breath

For the past few weeks I have spoiled myself by posting to my blog almost daily. However in the past week I have been absent and I've missed writing to the "big void" about my daily thoughts. Things have just been busy and... well, have you ever gotten to the point where you just need to sit down, take a big breath and just "be"? No computer in front of you. Cell phone out of ear shot. TV off. Sky blue. Big Breath.

I've been going non-stop: driving a lot, working even more and finding time for the family, friends and boyfriend. My brain has been going just as fast though. So the next topics on my list to write about next are: speaking in tongues, Ben & Jerry's Whirled Peace, Millennials (ah-gin), Media Forecast in 2020 and a notes on a few white papers I've compiled and printed off.

Random interjection: my friend Christina just called me to say she just bought her first car! Yes, she's had a car before this, but this is the only one she researched, negotiated, financed and purchased on her own. Congratulations! We're Honda buddies now!
