Now that it's mainstream, are the early adapters of Twitter becoming tired of it? I know that I find myself less enamored with it, but I think that it's because I'm so comfortable with it... and I wasn't even that early of an adapter. I think I signed up last Summer. Anyway, just a question. What do you think? Now that Good Morning America, The Today Show and almost all news outlets are trying to tweet and get their audiences on Twitter, will the early adapters fall out?

Is the Twinkle of Twitter Teetering?

I'm not sure. I've been using Twitter for quite a while and there are days when I'm on all the time and days when I couldn't care less. In that regard, I don't think it's any different than other modes of communication... sometimes I don't feel like chatting on the phone or hanging around the water cooler with coworkers either. So to some degree, Twitter has become just another mode of communication.
Twitter can go mainstream but what makes it a great communication and networking tool will not change regardless of who is using it. Traditional media outlets will realize that blatant self-promotion and one-way communication will cost them followers and credibility.
The thing that has helped me to keep Twitter interesting is unfollowing those individuals and/or organizations that are a) one-trick ponies (never deviate from a single topic) or b) constant self-promoters (self-proclaimed personal branding gurus are a dime a dozen)
