My former roommate and lifetime friend, Lori, and I are trying to go see Beyonce when she comes to DC. Tickets go on sale on Saturday. This morning, Lori tried to win us tickets on the radio. She's awesome.
Why are we so jet set on going? Well, in college, we loved Beyonce. May I also say that before college and after college, we loved and still love Beyonce. It all started with Destiny's Child. Then Ms. Knowles was quoted as saying "When I shake my butt I feel it in my soul." and it was over. We were sold. Lori and I love to dance and we were so inspired by her we printed out pictures of her to put in our apartment because they were so fun.
So here's hoping we get good prices/ seats. If anyone knows how we can get a deal, let me know! Until then, I'll just be jammin' to her song "Radio" as my ringtone!

And on a completely unrelated note: how adorable does the new Disney movie, Earth, look? If you're answer is completely then you and I are in agreement. I mean really... little ducks learning how to fly... baby polar bears cuddling with their Momma... melt my heart why dontcha!
If you see the movie, please let me know what you thought! It comes out in theaters today, Earth Day 2009. What are you doing to give back to our planet?
P.S. How CUTE is this movie poster??? Look at his little (read: gigantic) toes!

Pictures!
I was tagged in a blog post by Patrick- it's a kind of chain letter through blogs- but if I don't comply then I won't have bad luck for 12 years. If you subscribe to my blog you know that I write whenever I feel like it. Sometimes four blog posts at a time. Sometimes a month-long blogging drought occurs. But I never turn down a challenge.
So, as I was asked to do, here is a picture of me. A refresher if you will since most of you know what I look like. Boyfriend took this for his photojournalism class.
I welcome you all to send me a photo of you and I'll post it here. There is not time frame, so if you see this post a year from now, send me your photo and I'll put it up! I know some of you all commenters have blogs and photos readily available so send away.
I'm not tagging a few of you... I'm tagging all of you!
To get things started here's a photo of two friends on a summer day (yes, I googled "friends on a summer day" and this is the first image result).
Send you photos to:

SEE YOU SOON!

A Facebook Conversation with My Mom
This blog, by name, promises thoughts. Here are a few I've had on Facebook recently:
1) I love that my Mom is on Facebook. It's adorable and gives us even more to talk about. She's finding new connections and learning more about her computer everyday. I love it! And I love finally being able to teach my mother something after she taught me so much.
2) I love that my Mom's friends are friending me on Facebook (yes, it's a verb). There have been a few outliers- the tee-ball and youth basketball team mom's - that have taken me by surprise, but I accepted. I am a pretty good Facebook friend accepter. If I'm not comfy with you seeing all my biz, you just get limited.
3) I have recently gone through a major Facebook friend upheavel. Despite what I said in #2, I don't like to be randomly Facebooked without meeting or at least feeling like I have an OK sense of who the person is first. A few of these people went (don't worry, if you're reading this blog you're prob not one of them).
4) Others that didn't survive included old residents of my hall that were not super jazzed to be under my care (I used to be an RA), boyfriends of old residents on my hall (silly, huh?), classmates I never talk to anymore (and don't even speak to if I see them at a restaurant) and people I met at gatherings or parties at JMU. Overall, it wasn't a big cut, but it felt good doing so.
5) The latest issue of Real Simple has a GREAT article on Baby Boomer mom's getting on Facebook. It's much better than the CNN article IMHO (that's "in my humble opinion", mom). Check it out!
All done now. I'm going to finish burning some CD's that boyfriend is letting me borrow then hit the hay. CD's include: Neil Diamond, The National and Jimmy Buffett. How have I lived this long without the legit Buffett songs on my computer?
I'm adopting!!! .... a word!!!
It's a good step into adulthood right? Ok ok, it's not. But I adopted one anyway. The word I adopted is traboccant. This word means superabundant. The site's usage of the word in context is: "Kim had a traboccant love for shoes and secretly wished she was born with an extra pair of legs." I've never heard of this word before, but I like the idea. I'll try to use it, if I pronounce it correctly. However, upon googling the word I discovered I am not the only parent of this word. It's OK, I'll share it. Being tasked with saving one word from extinction in the English language is a bit of a daunting task, anyways.
Oh, and thanks to @dontgetcaught, someone I look up to, for tweeting about this site and leading me to it!
Happy verbiage!
