Weight Watchers - Giving it a try

My sisters and I have joined Weight Watchers. We are learning quickly that our eating habits leave much to be desired.

Overall I like it so far though, it's teaching me about good foods, filling foods, etc. It's not rocket science, and this information has been pushed in front of me many times before, but actually taking action and paying for the program, then counting points is helping a lot.

I think what I like best is the point system - I love games and competitions and in a way it's like that. If I exercise, I can gain back some points.

Anyone else ever tried this? Or another diet/exercise program that worked?

On an unrelated note, the Weight Watchers mascot, Hungry, is cute:

I tried Weight Watchers several years ago. I would go weigh in every week. Eventually the $15/week I was paying was just too much. I thought now that I know how the process works I could do it on my own. Didn't work. I think it's worth paying the money to go weigh in each week and be accountable for what you've eaten and how you've worked out.
I've heard so many success stories. I hope it works well for you, too!

Good luck!! I know lots of people who have done WW and swear by it. It's really good if you need a routine and accountability. I often think about joining but I hate counting calories! :)

Stef- thx I'm not going crazy with it, just trying to re-learn good habits.

Amanda - GOOD FOR YOU! I'm proud of you making it to day 22! That's awesome.

Michelle - yeah i have never dieted before, but this one is not so bad!

Proud of you girl. I hope it works for you to lose what you want but remember when it is over, living healthy is a lifestyle - not a diet. You have to train yourself to make the right decisions.

When you want a good butt kicking in the gym, I your girl.

You go girl! I did it in high school and it worked... i really think a lot of people have success with this program overall. My dad is back on it (he also did it with me when I was in high school) and he is doing great so far! I've got my butt goin to the gym three times a week and watching what i'm eating too!

One of my favorite sites to use is
http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html

it lists out all of the point values for food at different restaurants! Even though I'm not doing the program now, its still a good reference to see what is good and what is bad!

lots of luck your way! <3 ya girl!

I am actually going to my first meeting tomorrow after work. I'm excited about it. I tried it once with my step mom but didn't follow it I was like 14 at the time and really didn't need to lose weight.

I am a self proclaimed foodie so I'm hoping I'll still be able to eat some of the things I enjoy just in moderation.

Good luck!

Heather - good luck to you too! And yes, you can still eat all of those foods (well mostly). As I type I'm enjoying some chocolate ice cream (skinny cow brand).
