How to unsubscribe without being called a whore...

If you read the post below, you know that I am transitioning jobs. In an effort to make life easier for whomever gets all my e-mails forwarded to their Inbox after I leave, I'm unsubscribing from all the eNewsletters that I've chosen to bombard myself with daily.

Most services and newsletters let you simply click on "unsubscribe" and then you're done. This is my favorite type. Some make you send them a blank e-mail or login to "change your preferences". This request bugs me.

Very rarely do I get the "Please confirm by typing the word in the box below." request to unsubscribe. But I understand why companies ask for this, and I have no problem doing so.

When unsubscribing, I love it when companies write "We're sad to see you go!" or "Sniff Sniff please don't leave us." It gives a more personal feel, and once or twice I've actually reconsidered. But I'm not sure what this particular company was trying to tell me with the "random" word they chose for me to type in...

HILARIOUS!!!!
You need to send that to AdRants and/or Fark. That's too good for the whole world (well...at least OUR world) to miss out on.

Thanks for that one!

Will do Jay.

And an update to this post:
YES, I did type in "w-h-o-r-e" to unsubscribe.

That's friggin hilarious!

Something similar happened in our company. We used to have this old system that had some database file named "dummy" that and when it kicked up an error it would use it in the message. Error 2345, Dummy....yada yada. We got some interesting feedback from users.
